Dr. Meng-Chieh Hsieh|Associate Professor

Meng-Chieh Hsieh/ Soprano
Ms. Hsieh pursued further education in vocal performance after graduating from National Taiwan Normal University. She completed her Master of Arts degree at Ball State University in 2012 and subsequently earned a Doctoral of Musical Arts degree at the Hartt School, University of Hartford, in 2019. A recipient of several vocal competition awards, Ms. Hsieh has showcased her talents in performances across Taiwan, the United States, and Italy.
In October 2014, she achieved 3rd prize and received the "Best Interpretation of Francesco Paolo Tosti" award at the Mondial National Vocal Competition in Taiwan. Notably, Ms. Hsieh was featured as an artist with the Opera Theater of Pittsburgh in 2013 and has served as a soloist in various operas and concerts, collaborating with esteemed groups such as the Muncie Symphony Orchestra and the Indianapolis Symphonic Band in Indiana, the Los Angeles Taiwan Center, Crescendo Vocal Ensemble in the New England area, and the Hartford Opera Theater in Connecticut.
Ms. Hsieh, along with her guitarist friend Jaclyn Jones, co-founded Luca Duo in the spring of 2019. Since its inception, Luca Duo has garnered numerous performance requests in the New England area and New York City. In August 2023, Ms. Hsieh was invited to perform at the Taipei Performing Arts Center, portraying the title role in the Taiwanese literature musical "A Generation of Doctors Tsung-Ming Tu." Subsequently, her solo recital, titled "Paris, Illusion– French Melodies," at the National Taichung Theater in October 2023, was well-received.
As an educator, Ms. Hsieh has contributed her expertise to the University of Saint Joseph and the Hartt School of Music in Hartford, Connecticut, and Tainan National University of Arts. Currently, Ms. Hsieh serves as an Assistant Professor of Aletheia University in Taiwan.
