Dr. Chao-Cheng Lin/ Trumpet
Chao-Cheng Lin Bachelor of Music from National Taiwan Normal University, Master of Music from the Peabody Institute, and Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Maryland.
He has been invited to perform trumpet concertos with domestic and foreign orchestras on several occasions, including the National Taiwan Normal University Orchestra, the C. Y. C Wind Orchestra, the Ministry of National Defense Symphony Orchestra, the CYC Orchestra of New York, the Sino-American Music Association Symphony Orchestra, and the National Chiayi University Symphony Orchestra. In late 2002, he performed the Shostakovich Piano Concerto with the Washington Korean Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., USA, receiving high praise from the Washington Post as an outstanding soloist.
In terms of his experience in chamber music, he led "Taipei Five" brass quintet to perform at the National Brass Conference in Cape Town, Republic of South Africa in 1993, which received significant coverage from local newspapers. In Taiwan, he was invited by the Taipei County Cultural Center to perform six tours of village culture in Taipei County, which were highly acclaimed. While in the United States, he served as the principal trumpet of the University of Maryland Brass Quintet, received research scholarships, and often toured various communities and schools in Washington, D.C.
In addition to trumpet playing, he is also committed to coaching of wind bands and chamber music.
He was the head of the Department of Applied English at Aletheia University. He is now a full-time assistant professor in the Department of Applied Music at Aletheia University and an adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Music at University of Taipei.
